Wild Ideas FAQ

Home > Temple Questions > Spiritual Therianthropy

I've seen the word "therian" around too. Is that the same thing?

More or less. Sometimes it's used a short form for "therianthrope", sometimes as a more general term for everyone who feels any sort of animal affinity. The "-ian" ending of the word seems to emphasize its aspect as a belief system or school of thought, as in words like "Christian", "libertarian", or "Jungian".

I personally tend to use that word a fair bit, mainly because it's less of a mouthful than "spiritual therianthrope".
