This site presents its findings in a straightforward and accessible way for non-scientists. Ecology and Society (formerly Conservation Ecology) http://www.ecologyandsociety.org/ For those too impoverished to subscribe to Conservation Biology (i.e., most people I know), this is a good alternative. An electronic, peer-reviewed, scientific journal - you can subscribe by e-mail to be notified of new issues. It's free of charge while grant money lasts, but may move to a paid subscription structure in the future. It's also broadened its focus more recently, retitling itself Ecology and Society and offering a wider range of articles, but thankfully remains free. The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) http://www.conbio.org/ Web site of the Society for Conservation Biology home page, publishers of the excellent journal Conservation Biology. Back issues can be searched online, but results are limited to abstracts unless you're a subscriber.
